Description:

The Highways skill group within our clients Transportation business group is committed to delivering major highway and infrastructure schemes for National Agencies and Contractors. In addition, they support local authorities and developers in realising their highway and infrastructure related projects, achieved through a fully integrated approach to project delivery and drawing on the services of all skill groups from locations throughout the region.


The Glasgow office is key to expanding this infrastructure business in the UK and Europe, and this position is crucial to that success.





Key Objectives



The principal function of this position is to lead teams of engineers on highway-related projects within the Transportation Business Group.



Key Responsibilities



The key responsibilities of this role include:


· managing highway-related projects from conceptual stages through all phases of pre- and post-contract activities.


· liaison with other discipline team leaders to ensure technical integration.


· managerial responsibility for scheduling and resourcing project teams and related staff development activities.


· technical responsibility for highway schemes of significant importance.


· business support functions including financial management of projects, preparation of bids and submissions and the development and mentoring of junior staff.








Job Requirements



The key requirements of this role:


Deomonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to maintain a highly-motivated team

The ability to play a lead role in multi-disciplinary projects and be one of the principal client contacts

The individual should be experienced in general structural engineering and be able to demonstrate a high degree of technical independence

A comprehensive understanding of relevant current technical standards

An understanding of health and safety issues in relation to the design and construction of civil engineering works

A relevant civil engineering degreee and chartered starus of an appropriate institution or equivalent
